Can I do a voluntary internship or are only compulsory internships possible?
Both compulsory and voluntary internships are possible.
How long does an internship last?
If it is a compulsory internship, the duration is usually predetermined. For voluntary internships, the maximum duration is 3 months.
What are the weekly working hours?
Our interns are employed full-time, i.e. they work 35 hours per week.
Is there any remuneration?
Yes, internships are remunerated. However, the amount of remuneration depends on various factors (e.g. type of internship, current (desired) degree).
What are the weekly working hours?
The standard weekly working time is 16 hours per week.
How long can I remain a working student?
The employment contracts for working students are limited in time but can be extended if necessary. Employment as a working student is possible for a maximum of two years.
How much is the remuneration?
Working student jobs are remunerated in accordance with the IG Metall collective agreement.
Can I work more during the semester break?
Yes, it is possible to work more during the semester break if required. However, this must always be discussed with the HR department and proof of the lecture-free period must be provided.
What are the weekly working hours for final theses?
The weekly working hours can be arranged flexibly in consultation with the department but should be based on the 35-hour week.
Are theses remunerated?
Yes, but the amount of remuneration depends on the type of thesis (Bachelor's or Master's).
Can I choose my own topic?
In principle, you can choose the topic. Please note, however, that it must be compatible with the thematic focus of your chair as well as that of our respective department.
