As a Piping Layout Engineer, Pournima deeply values the practical experiences she has gathered from her projects. A particularly memorable story is how she got her position: “I was considered for a role in Mumbai, while there was also a need at a site in Gujarat. A field often reserved for men. Fortunately, the male colleague who was supposed to go to Gujarat resigned, and I got the chance.” On-site, she realized she was more than capable of handling the challenges. Her advice? “All women should strive for practical experience.”

Pournima’s career is marked by persistence and commitment. Her sincerity, honesty, and willingness to admit mistakes drive her forward. She enjoys the freedom and support provided by her workplace. Her goal: to become a Lead Engineer in the Piping sector in Pune, a city where she has established her career.

Even though her generation might not feel all the societal prejudices, she advocates for taking a clear stand. “It only needs to be a kind assertion,” she says. Traveling exposes her to new cultures, enriching her life further. She remains physically active and engages in volunteer work. “It’s important to gain new experiences outside of work and give back to the community,” she emphasizes.
