Azadeh Mohammadi, from Isfahan, Iran, began her career in mechanical engineering and found her way to Germany, where she discovered a new professional home at thyssenkrupp Uhde. As a Commissioning Engineer, she works on highly exciting projects focused on energy efficiency and sustainability. Azadeh Mohammadi grew up in Isfahan and dreamed early on of changing the world. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, she decided to move to Germany in 2016 to further her knowledge at the renowned Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. She successfully completed her studies in Energy and Environmental Engineering in 2018. Shortly thereafter, she joined thyssenkrupp Uhde Engineering Services as a Senior Piping Design Engineer, where she worked from June 2019 to January 2022. Since February 2022, she has been working as a Commissioning Engineer at thyssenkrupp Uhde in Dortmund.
Insights from the Construction Site
Azadeh’s career at thyssenkrupp began at a career fair, where she learned about the company and was immediately captivated by its innovative projects. Her first position as a Piping Design Engineer took her to Bad Soden, Germany, and later she supported pre-commissioning activities at the challenging MOL construction site, where she gained valuable experience. These experiences motivated her to apply for a position in the dynamic commissioning field. But how exactly did the construction site work influence Azadeh’s career path?
“The work on the construction site was challenging but very educational. I could directly witness how plants are built and commissioned,” says Azadeh. “These experiences showed me that I have found my true passion in commissioning.”
Living Sustainability – Professionally and Personally
Sustainability is not just a professional goal for Azadeh, but a mission. In her role, she ensures that the plants she commissions can be operated in an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly manner. She is actively involved in developing new technologies that enable sustainable production.
“Sustainability is not just a professional goal for me, but also a personal one. I use public transport, buy regional and seasonal products, and avoid unnecessary waste,” she explains. “It is inspiring to see how our work at thyssenkrupp Uhde really makes a difference.”

Azadeh encourages young professionals to be curious, face new challenges, and communicate effectively. “Be open to new cultures and experiences. Get involved and keep learning,” she advises. “The world is changing rapidly, and we must adapt and evolve to shape these changes.” How does Azadeh manage to find balance despite professional challenges?
In her free time, Azadeh seeks adventure. She enjoys horseback riding and swimming, reads a lot, and has a keen interest in art and culture. She also volunteers to support people with disabilities, which helps her find a balance between work and private life.
